Broaden your horizons. Experience life through my eyes.

Hey, my name is Jenelle. I was born with Cerebral Palsy and I've been in a wheelchair all my life. I created this website to make people aware of what it's like to be in a wheelchair and to live with a disabilility and the every day challenges that come with it. From getting into and out of bed, getting dressed and undressed, standing, walking, and sometimes even talking are a challenge. These are just a few examples of the challenges that I face everyday.
Believe it or not, it effects tasks as simple as those! Being in a wheel chair affects everything from daily living to going out in the community. Going out into the community can be hard for me because sometimes people treat me differently and are not always so nice to me. Moving around is a challenge for me because places are not always handicap accessable for me so it's difficult for me to maneuver my wheelchair in certain places. Another reason why going out into the community is difficult for me is because people are not aware of my presence and they bump into my wheelchair. These are just a few examples of the challenges I face on a daily basis.

Now that you understand a little bit about my cerebral palsy: let me tell you some of the things I like to do. Sense I can’t play regular sports, these are some of the things I like to do. I like to go horseback riding , because I love horses and it helps me with my balance, another  thing I like to do is listen to music because I can relate  to it, music makes me feel better when I am upset. I love to sing, I hope to become a professional singer when I get older. I also love to go swimming, and I love the water because I do not have to use my wheelchair. I may enjoy doing all of these things, but the thing that I enjoy doing the most is spending time with my families and friends, because I only get to see some of my family and friends once in a while, because some of my friends either live in collage or far away, so I like to spend as much time with them as I can with my friends.   I like to spend time with my families as well, because I do not get to  see some of my family members every day because they either live  far away, they’re not always around  or sick so when they are around, I like to spend as much time as I can with  my family and friends.  I love my life even if it’s hard sometimes, I wouldn’t change it. One more thing, I want you to know that it doesn’t matter if you have had a hard life, or what your strengths or weaknesses you have.  What matters is that you keep your head up and keep moving forward, because if you keep your head up, and keep moving forward you will be able to do anything you want in life.
