10 Things That Annoy Me (and probably many others who use wheelchairs):

1. When people stare at me. Sometimes I want to say “Take a picture it will last longer!”

2. When people insist on helping me.  Most of the time I appreciate it but sometimes it gets on my nerves.  If I need help, I will ask for it.

3. When I go out and some people cut in front of me as I am trying to maneuver around.

4. When people talk to me like I am a child. (Especially children who are younger than me!)

5. When people park within 8 feet of my ramp even though it says not to!

6. When able-bodied people look at individuals in wheelchairs and assume that they can’t be in a relationship.  That really bugs me. I could go on and on about this but I won’t…

7. When people yell in my ear because they think I am deaf.  I feel like saying “I may be in a wheelchair but my ears work just fine!”

8. When people claim that places are handicap accessible but turn out not to be.

9. When people follow me even though the destination is not far at all.

10. When people ask me if my disability is contagious.  It doesn’t bother me when children ask but it is very frustrating when adults ask because they should know better.

This is becoming a bit of a habit, us meeting like this. But if you are reading this you really want to try out Wix. Go on then.
